Troubleshooting a Fold-up Proform Treadmill?

I recently bought a Proform XP-615 treadmill. Like most other proform treadmills, it is the type that folds up. Since I live in a very small apartment, I usually fold it up between workouts so it doesn’t take up much space.

However, everytime I unfold it and start my workout, in the beginning there is a loud cracking sound when I put pressure on the belt up near the the front end (toward the console). It only does this once per fold-down, so it seems like it’s just something settling into place, but that doesn’t keep me from worrying that it might introduce wear and tear.

The assembly was relatively simple so I’m not convinced the problem is from erroneous assembly.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and did you find out what the problem was?

Shih Tzu puppy walks on treadmill! Kendra works out!

And here is her debute! Shih Tzu puppy walks on treadmill of her OWN DOING. I did not put her on it, encourage, or otherwise get her to do this. Looking at the video, I’m surprised I didn’t fall on my butt. I’m walking some funkay martian walk, on my Manual Treadmill, trying to hold camera, trying to keep wire you see out of way, trying to make sure to film HER, trying not to step on her, AND trying to keep her on the FRONT of the treadmill, hence the funky walk. lol Kendra works out!
